Hi. How do these processess communicate with each other? If you install a dynatrace Java Agent in your Java app you will see the time spent in the communication protocol you use. If it is a "well known" protocol, e.g: Web Services, REST, RMI, ... then dynatrace will also visualize these external calls and give you more context such as the endpoint of that call.
Depending on what type of black process this is you can additonally monitor performance metrics that this processes exposes. Often such processes expose metrics via JMX, PErf Counters, Log Files, .... -> dynatrace can capture these for you
