Ok, we could have a genuine file corruption issue here. If you have another collector elsewhere you could try to replace the file or alternatively re-installing the collector might fix the problem.

Which OS is this collector running on?

Could you attach the collector log file please?

2015-09-18 08:31:12 [0000001c] severe [native] "dynaTrace Collector 5.6.0" cannot be started interactively. Please use the Service Control Manager (Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services) to start this service.

I have used the service control manager to start the dynatrace collector instance - however the service keeps terminating unexpectedly. It is a Windows Server 2008 R2.

Under the instance logs - I keep seeing the following error:

Error: Invalid or corrupt jarfile D:\Program Files\dynaTrace\dynaTrace 5.6.0\collector\plugins\org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.2.0.v20110502.jar.gz

resolved it by - running a repair from add/remove programs.
