Dynatrace and Elasticsearch

Hi All,

I have installed ES 5.4.1 version on my linux server and service is running as i am getting response from the 9200 port. When i am trying to configuring the Purelytics stream data to ES i am giving linux server IP i.e "10.225.34.36" and port is "9200" but unable to establish the connection , facing an error like "error in connecting to Elasticsearch server". I have also modified ES.yml file in which mentioned network.host: 10.225.34.36.but no use.

Could you please suggest what ip should i give inorder to get the purelytics stream configuration.

I have attached the Screenshot for your reference.

Please help me out in tracing out this issue.

Thanks

shyamala

Hello Shyamala,

Is the port 9200 open from dynatrace server to ES sever? If YES

Then check the ES server logs to understand the exact problem.

Also uncheck the Allow untrusted SLL which is use for the HTTPS unofficial certificates and try again.

Babar

HI Babar,

Thanks for the reply.

Could you please tell me, how can I check whether the port 9200 is opened on Dynatrace server?

Now I am getting test connection is successful but here doubt is, how can I check that Dynatrace Purelytics data on ES server? Here, connection is successful but don't know exactly what would be the next step to proceed. How can I see the Dynatrace data on ES server?

Thanks in Advance!!!!!!

Thanks

Shyamala

I would recommend, you download Kibana (part of the ELK stack) - and connect this to your ES instance. Within Kibana, you can check your data in a more "interactive" way than just pulling it via various requests.

I find it a really nice Tool to manage and test out data validity and so forth with ES.

Do note, that if you want ssl encryption enabled via ES - you will need the ELK component X-PACK (which is not free). - so everything is sent in cleartext until you either encapsulate it with a proxy - or get x-pack (or similar plugins)

Hello Shyamala,

Great to hear !!! Once you connected successfully it means the port was already open from from dynatrace server to ES server.

There's a one more setting that just double-click the desired System Profile to open the Preferences dialog box for the profile then in the General tab and select the PureLytics Stream and click OK.

Check the following documentation for the system requirements, prerequisite and configuration.

Hello @Shyamala P.

May I know which username and password you used while configuring the PureLytics Stream?

Babar
