External API calls information in one DB

Hi all,

how can I put the timing information (average, max, count, etc...) from several external API calls in one DB?

We've requests calling several external data (multiple calls per request). This external calls are calls to a Java method with one argument. We've defined this external calls as a External API Service call and now we see the calls in the transaction flow with the correct timing an count data:

My question is how can I put this data in a chart in order to get the timing and count information for all the External calls (splitted by the argument)?

Thanks!

Hi all,

so what I want is one Timing measure for the calls to one method splitted by the method argument, is that possible? One BT doen't work I need only the measure but with the split by argument capability...

Hi Sebastian,

one BT doesn't work in this case because I want the times for the external calls and in one pure paths we can have several calls to the same or to different external services (the parameter indicates the service called)

Web Request dashlat with proper filter may work for you in that way. you should be able to see all webrequests splitted by uri there. You should be able for creating measures with WebRequests response time with filters that will work for you. I don't know any other way for charting such data in other way.

If you have multiple WebRequests during single purepath it may be possible for calculating it as result measure in BT if tou can combine it into known groups (like on your screen) based on some conditions. In such way you will have response time calculated there... but I'm not totally sure that this is possible.

Hi Sebastian,

thanks for your response but the external services aren't web request, they are calls to java methods.

In such case you should be able to filter method hotspots for such purposes.
