when trying to start the weblogic jvm with the appmon agent I get this error.

Error when initializing JFR. JFR will be deactivated.
java.lang.Exception: Could not instrument Throwable!
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Failed to start tracing backend.
How can I eliminate this error and start the weblogic?

Did you try turning off JFR and trying again? Basically JFR and AppMon are both trying to instrument your JVM and there appears to be a conflict.
What version of AppMon are you using?
As a last resort, you could tell Dynatrace to ignore the class(es) that's having trouble.
