Question by Suresh I. · Oct 02, 2012 at 10:22 AM ·

How to configure dynatrace4.2 agents?

My Application architecture is

1)Frontend-- PHP app runnning in apache web server will call java web services--- can we configure webserver agent?
2)Middle Tier--Java WebServices running in jboss will internally connect to mysql DB
3)Middle Tier--few java webservices will call vmware vcloud through MuleESB.

Please help me in configuring dynatrace agents for the above.

Thanks,
Suresh

Hi Suresh

You can configure the Web Server Agent for your Apache. This will give you PurePaths starting in the Web Server and with that gives you total Response Time of these Requests.
What probably wont work is that you can see the full End-to-End Trace from Web Server via PHP to Java. If you install a Java Agent on your Middle Tier you most likely will get separate PurePaths for these Web Service Requests

But - please give this a try and give us some feedback. We are working on extending our technology support and PHP is on the list.

Right now I would go ahead and install the Web Server Agent on Apache and the Java Agents on your AppServers

Thanks Andi,

Will give a try and let u know the feedback.it would be great if PHP support is provided soon. All applications in our organization are based on php for front end, which will consume java web services for data access in backend.
