Migrate PW from Postgresql to Oracle

Hi,

One of my customer is using Postgresql for their performance warehouse, and considering moving Oracle later on, is there any script we can utilize for the migration effort?

Note that it's dynaTrace 5.5 Prod Edition.

Thanks,

Flora

Hi, there is no built in functionality nor do we provide scripts for that as there is a whole bunch of 3rd party solutions (including a lot of freebies) available which enable migration from postgre to oracle data.

Nevertheless we did that once for a customer but be aware that this involves moving a lot of data later on so this will result often in a significant downtime of the pwh at the customer.

Thanks Stefan. So I guess we will have to open a support call piror to the migration?

The product does not support the migration as a built in feature so there is no official support for it. But maybe professional services or so

I am the same position as Flora, too.  We are planning to migrate from PostgreSQL to Oracle.  Can anyone form Compuware comment on the affect of version difference in PSQL and Oracle, please?   Unfortunately, we are falling behind the version update in dynaTrace as well V4.2 in production with PSQL 8.4.4. What issue we might be facing when we migrate to dynaTrace 6 with Oracle 11g?

Thanks!

-Ronald

Hi, you should not experience any difference in changing the backend, the product is taking care of. The only problem is moving data from postgre to oracle which causes some downtime. As stated above the product has no built in support to migrate the data from postgre to oracle this has to be done by using external tools etc...
