Question by Kalyan G. · Apr 12, 2014 at 02:51 AM ·

Javascript instrumentation

Hello,

We have an application  with multiple tiers.

1) Browser - JavaScript

2) Webservice - Java

I want to start the purepath in the Javascript code and pass it to through Webservice.

How can I achieve that?

Does Javascript ADK provide this capability?

Please clarify.

thanks,

Kalyan

Hi Kalyan,

Yes, we do support JavaScript - the keyword would be UEM (User Experience Management in the documentation). This will give you insight into the browser-side behavior for production applications.

If you look for insight more from a diagnostic point of view we have the browser agent for IE and Firefox - Browser Agent Configuration

Best, Roman

Hi Roman,

Looks like we don't have UEM license.

Does this mean, that we cannot use Javascript ADK ?

thanks,

Kalyan

Yes, unfortunately without a UEM license you cannot use the JavaScript agent. Same applies for the browser agent - also separately licensed.

Hi Roman,

Does this mean that we should have either UEM license or Browser Agent license in-order to use Javascript ADK ?

thanks,

Kalyan

For the JavaScript ADK you need UEM as UEM injects our JavaScript Agent which is the basis for the JavaScript ADK. With the JavaScript approach of UEM you will get visibility into EVERY user that browses your website.

The Browser Agent on the other side is a native browser plugin that will capture very detailed diagnostics data for those browsers that have this plugin installed. This is typically used by developers or testers but not for every end user out there.
