The new advanced Dynatrace Synthetic platform is now live. We want to hear from you on what you like, and what you think can be improved. Among the new features are:
- Synthetic Platform Redefined on Big Data: the platform has been completely re-architected on big data for faster performance, a more flexible API, and powerful analytics
- Error Analytics: Find out about our new error analysis capability that can isolate DNS, network, datacenter, application, etc. errors faster and easier before.
- Operations Accelerated: New efficient workflows from dashboards to errors to diagnostics including a redefined network diagnostics that places the power of our instant test capabilities at your fingertips along with some simplified results visualizations for easy result interpretation
- Front-end Performance Optimization Made Easy:
- Optimize performance under different network conditions, mobile carrier networks and more! (new mobile carrier connection emulation)
- Better analyze user experience and 3 rd party impact (new Interactive Waterfall Analysis)
- Automatic 3 rd party identification and classification
- W3C Navigation timing events
- New ways to share – HAR file download, public links, etc.
Give them a test drive, and get back to us, as comments on this post, or as questions on the open Q&A. Thanks!
I like the new view of the charts but i am not able to click failure points on the default view(attached) to open the data points to view the failure. I wish i could do that as in the same way as it works in the interactive charts
While I can appreciate the benefit of new features, the changes have increased steps in current workflows.
Errors / Waterfalls are no longer in easy reach (fewer clicks, menu access) and are now buried three levels deeper.
Manipulating and interacting with charts also was quickly accessible before, but now is another level deeper in the application.
While the visual organization and presentation of data has been improved, the user experience has been degraded.
Agreed with all points. Waterfall access shouldn't be as hidden/buried as it currently is.
Mark, Andy and Team,
The new look of the portal is quite impressive. Though, the interface has not changed entirely, the backend response is quite fast because of the Mongo db. The portal seems more fluid and seamless rendering in data. The new "error analysis" tab quite useful as well.
However, I would recommend bringing back the "account summary" tab back on the left hand side hamburger dropdown. For those individual who run multiple enterprise scripts and would like to have a quick birds-eye view of all their daily run, I believe "account summary" was very effective and delivered efficiently.
My team loves those new sea-foam green bar charts in "operations" view! More to come.
Thanks and Regards,
David Das
First impressions - performance is faster and the error analytics are okay, although this may take a little while to get used to.
Edit - I've had to come back to rectify my statement above where I stated I liked the new options for sharing. I liked the sound of it based on the info above but after using the portal further I noticed a downfall. I need to be able to export to CSV/EXCEL format. Why has this functionality been taken away for waterfall charts? I have up-voted the RFE to have this feature re-introduced.
I'm having some issues with the account settings section today, I've raised tickets for these, perhaps just a coincidence.
Where have the links gone for the classic portal??? Do I need to enable them? Have they been removed entirely? It'll be a shame if they have gone as I found them useful in the previous version of the new style portal. The error charts in the classic portal are essential, and it's a bit of a pain to have to login to the classic portal separately again.
Akamai finds that the Country abbreviations in interactive charts not good, particularly when a chart contains many different countries and or the chart is shared with recipients, frequently for Akamai, who have to guess what countries are represented. In these respects abbreviations are not user friendly. Is there any way to build in an option to show the countries spelled out in addition to the abbreviations in Interactive Charts?
