High drop ratio on AMD

Hi, 

we have a single AMD machine with a 10Gb native card. the machine is getting traffic with a smaller volume but we see a high drop rate hence a lot of data and traffic is missing.

any ideas ?

Hi Gil

Any reason why you run Native driver?

Using native drivers is a trade off for control versus versatility (compatibility). What I mean is that the custom driver that we write has more control in terms of how it interacts with the AMD software. We also take the liberty and peel off some things in order to get better performance.

If you can issue "lspci -v" we can check whether you NIC can use the custom driver or not.

If you need help in enabling or even forcing the driver to kick in I suggest you open a ticket with support. They shold be able to guide you through the step which shouldn't take more thatn a few minutes (smile) provided your card is supported by the custom driver that is  !

My bad Gil - I asked you to do the wrong command :-|

What I needed was"lspci -nn|grep Ethernet"

Hopefully you will also get a shorter list then - again sorry for the mistake on my behalf.

Hi

The first card there - Broadcom (I suppose this is the onboard) is not supported with the custom driver, but I guess you use it for communication.

The other card -  Intel (8086:10e8) should be supported with the custom driver, both in 32 and 64 mode .

My suggestion is to check that you are not capturing/decoding on Broadcom and then force the Intel card to use the custom driver.

If it fo some reason doesn't work to get this done through the menus, open a ticket with support as you need to edit a few file by hand (smile)
