New Relic compatibility

Hi,

in my company i'm working on the installation of Ruxit on specific host. But on that host is already installed New Relic instances and we can't disinstall that before.

My question is if there's any known problem of compatibility between Ruxit and New Relic if are installed and active on the same host.

Thank you

Manuel

Hi @Manuel M.,

There are no known problems on the host level with New Relic. As far as code level monitoring goes, Dynatrace Ruxit dynamically disables the New Relic agent in processes that it monitors (Java, .NET, Node.js, PHP...). This happens at runtime, no configuration change is done and is done to avoid any compatibility issues and ensure stability of the customer system.

E.g. If you monitor a Java process with Dynatrace (code level, web requests, database statements and so on) it will take out the New Relic agent at runtime. You can change this simply by switching the Monitoring: Off/On flag for any process or host. By turning of monitoring of a specific process in Dynatrace you effectively re-enable New Relic.

If you only want to test a specific process on that host, simply turn of monitoring for all other processes on the host. Turning off the host in Dynatrace will do this for all processes on the host. A change to this setting always requires a restart of the processes in question to take affect.

I hope this answers your concern, if you have more questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Best Michael

thank you, it's all i want to know
