several questions about dynatrace memory dump analysis

Hi,

I'm looking into dynatrace memory dump analysis.

Here, I have some questions about this as follows:

(1) Is it safe enough to perform memory dump analysis on production environments?

I'm worried about how the execution of the memory dump function influences to the application performance.
Does it cause suspension of the application or heavy load on the application?

(2) Is memory-dumping activated only when I click on "Trigger new dumps"?

I know that I can create memory dump by clicking on "Triger new dumps" on dynatrace console, for example, Navigation bar> "Diagnostic tools" > "Memory dumps".

Is it possible to create automatically event-driven memory dump if any problems occur?

(I guess it is not possible...)

(3) Dose "Trigger new dumps" create new dump files?

I understand that we can create new dump files on application servers with this function, not check existing dump files on servers.

Is my understanding correct?

I'm looking forward your answers.

Regards,

Kohei Saito

I am also trying to figure out if this is possible as can see the value in this approach.

I.e. automatically trigger memory dumps when memory exhation events identified.

Was there an answer on this topic ?
