Custom Service Detection based on Java Annotation

I can't seem to find a way to detect a custom service based on a java annotation. This is possible in appmon so I am surpised it isn't in managed. Is there a way to detect any method with a given annotation?

Annotation based custom service detection on method level annotations is currently not possible.

But there is already an RFE for that.
