Best Practices to Monitor Applications without RUM

Dear All,

What are the best practices to monitor/configure the applications without real user monitoring is turning on?

The use case is that recently we instrumented an application and customer is not interested in RUM for this application.

We disabled the RUM "Dynatrace real user monitoring is turned off." and application status changed to "Unmonitored" and secondly the monitoring data is going into "My web application" even the domain mapped to the newly created application.

Regards,

Babar

If real user monitoring is off, you should not get user actions - even not in the default application. Only service data should be available.

Is the application instrumented by auto injection or manual (agentless)?
I would suggest to create a support ticket, so we can take a look.

Hello @Alexander S.

We are not expecting any RUM data for the application as well as for the "My web application" even though user actions are appearing in the "My web application" for the application.

Application is auto instrumented.

Babar

I think best option is going through Process groups and unchecking "Automatically inject Real User Monitoring"

Hello @sebastian k.

I guess this is something new for me. Can you please assist me a little more to this direction?

Regards,

Babar

Go to process group => Edit and you can switch it of for all servers that are servinh HTML, and that's all. You are 100% sure that agent isn't injected anywhere.

Hello @sebastian k.

I turned off the JavaScript tag on the process level and will provide you the feedback of this change.

Babar
