Custom dashboard refresh rate ?

Hi,

I see that custom dashboards created in Dynatrace are automatically refreshed. But I wasn't able to find information about the refresh rate yet.

  • Is there a general refresh rate or can it be configured/set?
  • Does the refresh rate depend on the time resolution?

I don't know exact refresh rate, but you can force auto refresh in dynatrace by clicking: ctrl + shift + f9.

The refresh rate is based on the resolution of data being visualized by every single tile, so there's no general rule to it. The most frequent refresh rate that can occur is every minute.

There's no general rule, since the exact refresh rate of every tile (the dashboard itself doesn't refresh actually) is based on the resolution of visualized data. The most frequent refresh interval that you may experience is 1 minute.

Thanks for this new information. I already assumed that there only is some kind of hidden and non configurable refresh interval.
OK, I didn't had in mind that the interval can be different for each tile, maybe because (as far as I know) the option to adjust the resolution for every tile was just implemented with the latest Release.
I suppose it eventually will look a little strange if there are a lot of tiles on a dashboard, all with custom timeframes, that all refresh in different intervals.

With all the new possibilities to set custom timeframes in any imaginable way for each tile I understand that there can't be a general sheet that shows refresh intervals for every timeframe. But I still believe there should be known refresh intervals for the most used timeframes like "last 30min", "last hour", "today" etc.
I know that at least my customers will look at me disbelieving if they ask for the refresh interval of a custom dashboard and my answer is "I can't tell you, but please trust me, it will refresh" 🙂

Good point. I'll make sure that we have a doc page for that.

Great ... will you post the information that the doc page was created and a link in this thread ?

Is there a way to make a tile more granular than 1 minute? Seems there is no way to change that and unfortunately we need much finer resolution

Christopher, may I ask which granularity you'd be looking for and for which purpose that would be necessary? 1 minute resolution is our finest exposed granularity for metrics.
