Incorrect encoding of host metadata on Windows using oneagentctl

grechnev
Participant

As stated in the Documentation there are two ways of setting host metadata: oneagentctl --set-host-property command (recommended) and hostcustomproperties.conf file:

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/shortlink/tagging-hostautotag#edit-the-host-tag-configuration...

The file must be in UTF-8. But if we use oneagentctl.exe on Windows machine, it writes the file automatically in default windows encoding. See the screenshots:

After manual converting the file to UTF-8 it becomes correct:

Is it a bug?

This is very interesting and I would classify this not as a bug but maybe an oversight. Im going to raise this up to support so they are aware of this issue.
