To place old version files of OneAgent to New Dynatrace Managed Server

Hi!

Now my customer is testing their application for the implementation of OneAgent on Staging environment with Dynatrace Managed.

If the test is No problem, they will create the new Dynatrace Managed Cluster for Production environment and implement on Production Environment.

So, I have a question for this environment.

I think the new Dynatrace Managed cluster for Production does not have old version of OneAgent. (I think the cluster only download the new version of OneAgent after Installed.)

If on Staging environment the application was tested version 199 and new cluster create after version 200, on Production environment was released with version 200 of OneAgent.
The customer's application is financial system and does the rigorous testing. And the cost of Testing is very costly. So the tested version is very important.

Question : Is it possible to place old version of OneAgent on new Dynatrace Cluster?
(Is it copying the OneAgent files on Dynatrace Cluster to another Dynatrace Cluster?)

Regards,
Yasuo Ohnishi.

OneAgents binaries are downloaded based on the cluster version you install - that's correct. New cluster installation downloads only the latest OneAgent versions.

So in order to maintain the same software version across your pipeline stages - dev, staging and production - use the same cluster installation.

Thank you for your answer.

So, is it possible to create new cluster from backup of old Staging cluster?
(After creating the new cluster, they will set the license for new cluster.)

Or, is it possible to connect to new version's cluster from old version's OneAgent of old version cluster with changing configration?

I’m not quite sure what you mean. But, yes - you can use old versions of OneAgents with any newer cluster version.
