No data available for custom service metric

I've created a custom metric from the multidimensional analysis view on a service request endpoint. I can see data in the visualization just fine but when I create a metric for it, I never see any data for it, even though the chart I created it from clearly had data in it. 

I've attached a screen grab of the analysis page I created the metric from. Is there some setting somewhere that lets me see the data on this screen but for some reason prevents me from seeing it directly under the metrics area?

It's confusing to say the least.
