Will custom device entity become inactive after a period of time

Hi,

I would like to know if the custom device entity needs to be activated regularly, and if yes, how often and what should I do to activate it (maybe I need to push a metric to the entity)? And I am also concerned about how much Custom Device charges.

Hi,

A custom device won't become inactive in Dynatrace.  You may not see it in your selected timeframe if there isn't any data pushed to that device.  Custom devices don't cost anything.

Actually it is "jein"

as described here: Disappearing Custom Devices in the interface - Dynatrace Community and RFE - Custom Devices with configurable lifespan - Dynatrace Community custom devices created via UI exist till being deleted. Custom devices created wia API becomes inactive if they do not get any data in 72h.

In out enviroment we have an "KeepAlive" extention to ensure all relevant custom devices get "pinged" every x hours (wich is good for DT as we have to pay for every single ping)
